Corrections policy
updated 2026-10-22
Anything on starfeed.com can be wrong: a collector can match the wrong person, a translation can miss the point, a source can be mistaken. We would rather be corrected quickly than look infallible. Here is how it works.
How to request a correction
- •Every content page has a “Request a correction” button (in the trust block and in the profile infobox). Pick what is wrong, give the correct value, and add a source link if you have one.
- •No account is needed. Requests are rate-limited per device and IP to stop abuse; your IP is stored only as a daily-salted hash.
- •For a bad translation use “Translation looks wrong”; for a fan contribution use “Report”. Two reports from different devices hide the item until review.
What happens next
- •Requests go to the operator queue, where a person reviews them. Outcomes: applied, rejected, or held for more evidence.
- •If a briefing sentence is wrong, the briefing is replaced by a new version. The previous version is kept as “superseded” — never deleted.
- •Profile facts (name, debut, birth date, agency, category) are fixed in the data, so every page and every language updates together.
- •We do not promise a turnaround time; the queue is reviewed regularly and the outcome is visible in the revision history.
Revision history
- •Each star has a revision history page linked from the trust block. It lists every briefing version with its status and automatic-check result, and every applied correction with its date.
- •Automatic hides (two reports) and automatic rejections (failed checks) are recorded there too.
Removal and privacy
- •starfeed.com covers public figures and links to publicly available material. If a page concerns a private person, or material was published unlawfully by the original outlet, use the correction form with “Other” and describe the issue; such requests are reviewed first.
- •We do not store personal data about readers beyond what the privacy-preserving contribution system needs (random device id and a daily IP hash).
