James Allen Estes là một nhà sinh thái học người Mỹ và là Giáo sư xuất sắc tại Đại học California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), được biết đến với những nghiên cứu về rái cá biển và hệ sinh thái rừng tảo bẹ. Sinh ra ở Sacramento, California, ông tốt nghiệp Đại học Minnesota năm 1967 và có bằng thạc sĩ.
