Charu Roy

Charu Roy (6 September 1890 – 28 September 1971) was an Indian film director, actor, painter, and cultural figure active during the silent and early sound eras of Indian (especially Bengali) cinema. Born in Berhampore (now in West Bengal), Roy studied geology and graduated from Presidency College, Calcutta. He was also a painter, cartoonist, and writer, deeply involved in the Bengal School of Art.
