Albert Ferrer Llopis (Catalan pronunciation: [əlˈβɛɾ(t) fəˈre]; born 6 June 1970) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a right-back. Having represented Barcelona for almost a decade, he went on to appear for England's Chelsea until his retirement. During his spell in his home country he was nicknamed Chapi, and appeared in a total of 221 La Liga matches over nine seasons. A Spain international on more than 30 occasions, Ferrer represented the nation in two World Cups and at the 1992 Olympic Games, winning the latter tournament. He started working as a manager in 2010, with Vitesse.
