Marshall Bruce Mathers III (born October 17, 1972), known professionally as Eminem, is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and record executive. Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential rappers of all time, he is often credited with popularizing hip-hop in Middle America and the acceptance of white rappers. While much of his transgressive art during the late 1990s and early 2000s made him a controversial figure, Eminem has become a representation of popular angst in lower-income America and is noted for his conscious rap—including political criticism and social commentary—and rap flow. Eminem was also a member of the hip-hop groups New Jacks, Soul Intent, Outsidaz, and D12, as well as the duo Bad Meets Evil with Royce da 5'9". In 2002, he starred in the drama film 8 Mile, receiving critical acclaim for playing a dramatized version of himself. "Lose Yourself", a song from the 8 Mile soundtrack, topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for 12 weeks—the most for a solo rap song—and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, making him the first hip-hop act to ever win the award. His other ventures include co-founding the record label Shady Records, establishing the Sirius XM Radio channel Shade 45 and opening the restaurant Mom's Spaghetti. Eminem is the best-selling rapper and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with estimated sales of over 220 million records. He is the first musical act to have ten albums consecutively debut at number one on the Billboard 200, and also has five number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Suppose you don’t think kids can figure out if they are trans, or maybe the whole trans thing confuses you. Suppose that. Now ask yourself, do you think the people hating on trans people are going to stop with trans people? Will shutting down clinics that provide that care be where it stops? Fuck no. Yeah, like scanning a QR code displayed by some random website is a good idea in the first place. But of course your ability to scan the code isn’t what verifies your human nature. That QR code merely tells you that you need the reCAPTCHA app (on iOS) or newest Google Play services (on Android). In other words, you have to verify that you own a mobile device and are providing data to Google. Which they promise not to share with the website, like that’s what I’m worried about. This obviously excludes people who don’t have a smartphone, have a de-Googled smartphone or simply don’t want to feed their data to Google. And it again ties a large chunk of the web to Google services. If reCAPTCHA wasn’t evil before (a questionable statement), it definitely is now.
It's the internet, people. It's OUR internet. Just because we decided to trust Google to not be evil doesn't mean that Google decides the future of the internet. English is a funny language… terms and phrases can mean more than one thing based on usage. Take “I’m apolitical”, for example. When it expresses that you only care about this quarter’s profits while the planet burns, it means “I’m stupid.” When it’s that you can’t be bothered about the plight of people less fortunate than you, it means “I’m privileged” and “fuck you, I got mine.” And when it shows that you’re neutral about – and thus actively complicit in – genocide, it means “I’m evil.” What a language, eh? # apolitical # neutrality
