Abdul Aziz Awda, also known as Sheik Awda (born 1946 or 20 December 1950), is a Palestinian cleric who, along with Fathi Shaqaqi, founded the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), a Palestinian Islamist paramilitary organization based in Damascus, Syria and the Gaza Strip. Awda and Shaqaqi, both natives of the Gaza Strip, met as students in Egypt.
